• What do I do if a dog shows up at my house that doesn't belong to anyone in the neighborhood?
  

  Per State Law Animal Control MUST be notified of all strays.  Legally we are the only facility that can take in a stray dog in Branch County.

  There are 3 options available:

  1.  Call Animal Control to have the dog picked up.

  2.  Bring the dog to the Animal Control Shelter.  We check it for a micro chip, take a picture & post it on the web site.  An Animal Control Officer will check the area for an owner.  The dog is held for 4 business days & then is available for adoption, transfer or may be released to a Rescue.

  3.  Bring the dog to the Animal Control Shelter.  We check it for a micro chip, take a picture & post it on the web site.  We will tell you how long you need to hold onto the dog & after the 4 business days holding period the dog will become yours.  You can then try to find it a home or keep it.  You will need to get shots done & a dog license purchased if you are keeping the dog.
